Differentiation
Pupils needing extra support:
May need some one-to-one modelling of how to attach things to their box looms. It might be easier for some children to weave with soft fabric, so suggest they weave with the fabric strips and tie their other things, like plaits, on with knots. Some children will need help tying knots – show them the technique of folding a thread in half to form a loop, then passing both ends through the loop and pulling tight (see Slide 7).
Pupils working at greater depth:
Can be encouraged to layer up the woven elements and try weaving in both directions to overlap pieces. They could think about combining their pieces in interesting ways rather than randomly attaching things to the loom. They may find some interesting methods of their own for joining things to the loom.
