Learning to distinguish fruits from vegetables, and putting this knowledge into practice, handling and categorising a selection of fruits and vegetables.

Differentiation

Pupils needing extra support: Will need the language of the lesson (fruit and vegetable names) and what they are looking for, reinforced through repetition.

Pupils working at greater depth: Should be allowed to examine the foods in more detail, perhaps with a magnifying glass. They may be encouraged to start naming other parts of the fruits and vegetables, for example, stem, leaves, root.
