Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could work in smaller groups and be given time to feel and talk about the six materials before testing them; could test and measure fewer materials; could record their findings by drawing and labelling the materials tested and writing down how far they stretched (number of cubes); could measure using slightly larger, non-standard units, e.g. wooden blocks.
Pupils working at greater depth
Could draw on their own experiences to make verbal predictions before testing; could use a ruler to measure length to the nearest centimetre; could write sentences to record their results (e.g. the elastic band was the stretchiest material because it stretched X cubes; the leather was the least stretchy material because it did not stretch at all).
