Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
Can use the Activity: Written points to help them remember the names and positioning of the eight compass points. Could work as part of an adult-guided group during the expedition.
Pupils working at greater depth:
Can compare how their expedition is similar or different to Shackleton’s. Can identify the opposite direction of the eight compass points. Can consider how and why Shackleton used a compass to navigate his way out of Antarctica.
