Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Should use the Activity: Melody framework (support) which has some letter names already filled in and gaps to fill; could have colour-code letters and coloured dots on the corresponding notes of the instrument so that they do not have to rely on letter recognition alone.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could bring their own instruments to the lesson if appropriate; should try playing their melody at the same time as their partner’s melody to see what it sounds like; should add dynamics to their melody.
