Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could confirm high- and low-pitched notes verbally before using their hands to show the pitch; ensure that the children can clearly see the modelling and are directly in front of the teacher.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should be challenged to identify if notes are close together in pitch or far apart; could accurately demonstrate this using their hands.
