Play the Pupil video: The Christmas story and remind the children about the story of Jesus‘ birth found in the Christian Bible. Another name for the Christmas story is the Nativity.

Could sort fewer images in the Main event; could use the images on the Activity: The Christmas story (support) as a prompt.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could add their own suggestions to how Christmas is celebrated; could, in the Main event, sort the images three ways: ‘Connected to Christian belief’, ‘Not connected’ and ‘Both’.
