Lesson 1: What is the Harvest Festival?

Exploring the meaning and significance of the Harvest Festival celebrations. Teach this lesson during Autumn 1 around the time that Harvest is celebrated which is generally during September / October.

Support and challenge

Adults can use the opportunity to:

  • Provide some children with fruit and vegetable stampers, which are easier to hold.
  • Encourage the children to suggest special things people can do during harvest (e.g. giving food to people who need it; sharing things with others, visiting a farm, etc.).
