  • Talk about members of their immediate family and community.
  • Name and describe people who are familiar to them.
  • Recognise that people have different beliefs and celebrate special times in different ways.

Adults can use the opportunity to:

  • Read storybooks about families and friends to generate discussions about who is special to them.
  • Encourage suggestions about who might be special to their special people (e.g. my mum is special to my dad and my sister is special to her friends because she is kind to them).
