Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could use an alternative (larger) unit of measurement to measure leaves in the adult-led task; could be given sorting hoops to sort leaves according to simple criteria (e.g. size, shape or colour) as opposed to completing the Activity: are all leaves the same?; could create an A3 version of the optional independent task.
Pupils working at greater depth
Could be given a device with a tree identification app to use during the leaf hunt; could use a ruler to measure the length of leaves in centimetres in the adult-led task; could use a tree identification app to find and write down the names of the trees recorded on their activity sheets in the adult-led task.
