Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Should use the first page of the Resource: Knowledge catcher: Light and shadows as a reference for vocabulary, examples of light sources and reflective materials when writing the acrostic poem; could create a shorter acrostic poem by using ‘reflect’ instead of ‘reflection’.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should name a broader range of light sources and reflective materials and their properties in the acrostic poem; could design a shield using suitable reflective materials to hunt down either Medusa from Ancient Greek mythology or a basilisk, which cannot be looked at directly without risk of death; could choose an extension activity relating to reflection from the Resource: Stretch and challenge: Light and shadows.
