Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could cut out the conclusion statements from the Activity: Observing variation and drawing conclusions to make it easier to find the best match with the observations; should work with the first six cards from the Activity: Variation diamond nine (personalised medicine, fingerprinting, telling people apart, enjoying variety, suiting certain tasks and predicting chance of illness) and order the cards from most to least useful.
Pupils working at greater depth
Could have the conclusion statements removed from the Activity: Observing variation and drawing conclusions to encourage them to write their own conclusions before reviewing and sorting the provided statements; should add additional characteristics to the Venn diagram sorting environmental and inherited variation.
