Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could use the Resource: Directions transcripts at the start of the Attention grabber to support their listening and understanding; should use the Knowledge organiser during the Main event to support in translating and understanding the audio clips; in the Wrapping up, could be given instructions to read to their partner or could practise saying the directions (derecha, izquierda, sigue todo recto) orally to improve their pronunciation.
Pupils working at greater depth
In the Main event, when following directions on a map, could be given two directions to decipher and follow at once; could be encouraged to translate/give directions to new and different Ancient Maya landmarks.
