At the heart of our KS2 Art scheme of work is the belief in nurturing children’s development of their own artistic style and building their confidence rather than focusing solely on the final artwork. This approach encourages exploration and personal growth in art.
It’s structured into four strands across the year groups. Each progressive unit is packed with lesson plans, videos, resources, and teacher guidance to develop your subject knowledge.
So, what are our key areas of art, craft and design?
- Drawing: Introduces basic techniques and encourages expression, laying the foundation for visual communication.
- Painting and mixed media: Promotes the exploration of colours and textures, allowing pupils to experiment and discover.
- Sculpture and 3D: Aims to develop spatial awareness through the hands-on creation and manipulation of materials.
- Craft and design: Combines creativity with practical skills, enabling pupils to create both decorative and functional artwork.
