An outline of the intent and rationale behind Kapow Primary’s scheme of work for RSE and PSHE for KS1 and KS2 that provides full coverage of the statutory and the non-statutory elements of the new national curriculum for relationships, sex and health education as well as covering the PSHE Association’s guidance.  The document explains how the scheme is implemented as a whole school approach with strands of learning relating to family and relationships, health and wellbeing, safety and the changing body, citizenship and economic wellbeing and provides guidance on assessing the impact of the approach.

Computing: Intent, implementation and impact

This document outlines the intent and rationale behind Kapow Primary’s Computing scheme of work as well as how to implement it and how to measure pupil progress and impact.

Kapow Primary’s Computing scheme of work enables pupils to meet the end of key stage attainment targets outlined in the national curriculum and the aims align with those in the national curriculum. When used alongside Kapow’s RSE & PSHE scheme, our Computing scheme of work also satisfies all the objectives of the DfE’s ‘Education for a Connected World framework’. This guidance was created to help equip children for life in the digital world, including developing their understanding of appropriate online behaviour, copyright issues, being discerning consumers of online information and healthy use of technology.

Our National curriculum mapping document shows which of our units cover each of the national curriculum attainment targets as well as each of these three strands.

Our Subject leader overview: Progression of skills and knowledge document shows the skills that are taught within each year group and how these skills develop year on year to ensure attainment targets are securely met by the end of each key stage. It also outlines the key knowledge gained in each of our key areas.

RSE & PSHE guidance for schools

Designed for schools and RSE subject leads, this document informs schools about the statutory requirements for the teaching of relationship education and health education in primary schools in England.

It guides schools, RSE subject leads and class teachers on how to teach high-quality relationships and sex education.

Schools can also use the document to identify which Kapow Primary RSE/PSHE lessons are ‘sex education’. This is important as parents can withdraw their children from sex education lessons in primary schools.
