This document is a mixed-age version of our very popular long term planning, which allows schools to alternate between the teaching of Design and technology and Art and design half-termly.
Please note that schools must subscribe to both Art and Design and Design and technology subjects to have access to all the units referenced in this plan.
For mixed-age settings, we have organised the units into two-year cycles, ensuring that progression is still appropriate, no matter the order that children experience Cycle A and Cycle B.
To accompany this document, we have produced a DT and Art: Progression of skills and knowledge- Mixed-age.
Kapow Primary’s approach to addressing sexual harassment in schools builds on the requirements for RSE, which are outlined in the statutory guidance set out by the DfE: Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education.
Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE curriculum already covers boundaries, respectful relationships, permission seeking, consent and giving in relationships and reporting concerns in line with the Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education guidance, 2021 which outlines what pupils should know ‘by the end of primary school’ (see RSE & PSHE: Statutory guidance mapping document).
However, we have now broken some of the relevant targets down further to show progressive knowledge outcomes across the primary phase that prepare pupils for further learning about sexual harassment in secondary school.
A user-friendly document showing how following our Art and design curriculum can support schools in providing for pupils’ personal development, including SMSC and British values.
This Progression of skills document is designed for mixed-age settings that follow our revised art scheme and the Art and design: Long-term plan — mixed-age version.
It shows progression in skills and knowledge from Y1/2 to Y5/6 over a two-year cycle. EYFS: Reception has been included as a single-year group.
If you follow our Long-term plan – condensed version, see the corresponding Progression of skills and knowledge – condensed version.
If you subscribe to both subjects and follow our D&T and Art long-term plan, see the corresponding D&T and Art: Progression of skills and knowledge.
If you follow our standard Art and design: Long-term plan, see the corresponding Progression of skills and knowledge.
This document may be useful to you if your school has mixed-age classes. It organises our Science scheme of work into a two-year rolling cycle which ensures full coverage of the National curriculum objectives.
The units will be adapted for mixed-age classes to ensure progression. The Cycle A Autumn units will be available to teach from September 2024.
This document gives an overview of the skills and knowledge covered in each phase and strand of the Kapow Primary Science scheme of work for mixed-aged classes.
This assessment spreadsheet accompanies our Science scheme of work to support you in creating a record of pupil’s progress.
It provides a list of learning objectives for our Science curriculum and the Assessing progress and understanding statements from each lesson in Key stage 1 and Key stage 2.
This assessment tool is a place to record teacher assessments and track how pupils are achieving across Science units. This formative assessment strategy can help you to identify gaps in pupils’ learning and can act as a tracker to monitor pupil’s attainment throughout the year.
Teachers can record whether pupils have been working towards the learning objective, shown secure understanding of the learning objective or been working at greater depth.
The spreadsheet will then calculate the percentage of the lessons each pupil has been working at these levels which can be useful for writing reports or reporting to parents at parents evenings.
It also gives you data about the whole class helping you to target particular learning to revise and revisit.
