This document shows where our mixed-age French scheme of work gives coverage of the national curriculum attainment targets for languages. It also shows the link between the Kapow Primary strands and the national curriculum statements.
How does Kapow Primary ensure full coverage of national curriculum languages guidance through its mixed-age scheme?
Our mixed-age French scheme is for schools teaching French to mixed-age classes comprising two year groups (lower KS2 and upper KS2). It organises our French scheme of work into a two-year rolling cycle (Cycle A and Cycle B) and provides full coverage of the national curriculum objectives and progression throughout Key Stage 2.
Foreign language teaching is mandatory in key stage 2. Kapow Primary’s mixed-age curriculum for learning French includes three knowledge strands and two skills strands. The knowledge strands are phonics, vocabulary, and grammar, while the skills strands are language comprehension and language production. The program also promotes cultural awareness of France and the French-speaking world.
This document shows clearly how Kapow Primary’s French mixed-age curriculum gives coverage of the statutory guidance outlined in the KS2 national curriculum for languages. Each of our individual lessons also show which national curriculum attainment targets pupils are working towards within the lesson. Each lesson is hyperlinked for easy access, and the document is regularly updated.
