Lesson 2: Painting: Tints and shades - Option 1 (Original scheme)

Learning that a 'tint' is made by adding white to a colour and a 'shade' by adding black, pupils mix colours to paint the template of an animal, working across the image from light to dark and completing a contrasting background. Learning about the technique of Diego Velázquez

Pupils needing extra support: Pupils who struggle to paint neatly and blend tones from dark to light may need more practice.

 

Pupils working at greater depth: More able pupils may finish quickly. They can repeat the exercise with a different sheet and colour.
