Lesson 2: Shape 2: Geometry

Taking a simple drinks can, children learn to first study an object to identify the simple geometric shapes it's made up of, before sketching out the details using light guidelines

  • To improve their mastery of Art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials [for example, pencil, charcoal, paint, clay]

Differentiation

Pupils needing extra support: Some pupils might struggle with identifying the simple shapes, so simpler objects can be located and printed, e.g. a football, tennis or cricket ball.

They might struggle to draw lettering and rely on handwriting rather than constructing block lettering. Extra one-to-one guidance may be needed.

 

Pupils working at greater depth: More advanced pupils might begin shading or colouring their drawings.
