Learning objective

  • To create a recipe that is healthy and nutritious using seasonal vegetables and fruits.

National curriculum

Pupils should be taught to:

  • understand and apply the principles of a healthy and varied diet.
  • prepare and cook a variety of predominantly savoury dishes using a range of cooking techniques.
  • understand seasonality, and know where and how a variety of ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed.

Pupils needing extra support: They may need support deciding which vegetables and fruits are seasonal and what nutritional value they have.

Pupils working at greater depth: Should consider the taste, texture and smell of their recipes. They should also consider appearance. They may want to adapt this using a different cheese, herb or base.
