Lesson plan

Recap and recall

Display the Presentation: Call and response and show the children the animals on each slide. Ask the children to work with a partner to come up with a call and response for the animals, e.g. Call: hippo; response: likes to swim. Encourage them to be inventive with their call and responses.

Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could provide suggestions for a ‘call and response’ question and answer and model how this works as a rhythm; should encourage groups needing more support to keep their performances simple, rather than introducing different structures.

Pupils working at greater depth

May ask them to lead their group and write down the appropriate things to help them remember next time.
