Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Should be prompted to slow down and do more repetitive movements of the drawing material; could use wraps or grips on materials that are either messy or difficult to hold; could use writing slopes; could use light coloured paper to vary background colour; could use a large sheet of paper with each material laid out in front with the name of the material written underneath it.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should show more distinct differences in the marks they make within one material, including variation in grip, control and pressure; could experiment with a wider range of drawing materials; could be asked to identify ‘warm’ or ‘cool’ colours and experiment with using these groups together in different ways.
