Pupils needing extra support: If children find this hard, the basic cartoon shapes for the face (outline, nose, circles for eyes) could be drawn initially to give them a starting point to add their own lines too.
Pupils working at greater depth: Once children have tried a range of expressions, they could continue to add the rest of the head and the hair to create their own characters. They might use characters from the source material to get some ideas.
