Could practice cutting on scrap pieces of lino or polystyrene before they work on their actual plate; could focus on using thicker, bolder lines and shapes, which are easier to cut and print, while still achieving good visual results.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could experiment with mixing paint or ink to create new colours before printing; could experiment with layering prints using different colours; could make more intricate and detailed designs using varied line thickness and complex textures to add depth and interest to their prints; could create two separate plates to use with different colours to create a two-coloured print.
