Please note
This unit includes new lessons with teacher and pupil videos to help the children learn about the importance of a balanced diet and use that knowledge to create a tasty wrap. The Archived unit: Cooking and nutrition: A balanced diet will no longer be updated.
Unit outcomes
Pupils who are secure will be able to:
- Name the main food groups and identify foods that belong to each group.
- Describe the taste, feel and smell of a given food.
- Think of three different wrap ideas, considering flavour combinations.
- Construct a wrap that meets the design brief and their plan.
For lesson 6, it is suggested that wrap construction takes place outside the lesson throughout the day with an additional adult who works with children to prepare their foods and construct the wraps.
