Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
Should use pre-made shapes such as bottles, boxes or toilet rolls rather than creating the housing from scratch; could be given a completed circuit to look at while trying to make one of their own; should be encouraged to check all of the connections to ensure the circuit is complete; could use the star chart edition of the Activity: Final torch evaluations.
Pupils working at greater depth:
Could create their housing from scratch; should add special features to suit their client; should extend and stretch their understanding by considering transferable scenarios, such as designing an x (e.g. speaker, lamp, etc.) for x (e.g. firefighter, cyclist, etc.).
