Pupils needing extra support
Could be given images of different playground apparatuses or a theme to work with, such as ‘under the sea’ or ‘jungles’ to help them generate ideas; could be given the Resource: Finished design example or refer to slide 1 of the Presentation: Playground design as a reference for sketching; should be encouraged to stick with simple structures.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should generate a wide range of creative ideas, incorporating a variety of different and sophisticated structures; could be challenged when drawing a plan by being provided with squared paper, sample materials and measuring equipment to draw apparatus to scale.
