Differentiation

Pupils needing extra support: use the Knowledge Organiser with the numbers and words in French to support throughout the task.

Pupils working at greater depth: Using the picture cards, they can turn over one of the pictures and on mini whiteboards try to write the number that goes with it. They could race with a partner and use the number word cards to check their spellings.

Wrapping up

During the week

  • Think of items in the classroom that you can ask the children to count, using the question, Il y a combien ?
  • Encourage the children to come up with different clapping/throwing/counting games in PE.
  • Display your train phonemes on the wall and ask the children to suggest words to add below that belong with the sound. There is a good discussion to be had here about the difference in sounds between English and French.
