Pupils needing extra support: use page 1 of the activity resource, where pictures are captioned to support sentence building.
Pupils working at greater depth: create extended sentences using et (and) / mais (but), as well as alternatives using vocabulary from previous topics. To stretch the very able , ask the children to add adjectives such as grand(s)/grande(s) following an example such as ma soeur adore les petites pommes vertes et les grandes cerises rouges – my sister loves small, green apples and big red cherries.
Wrapping up
During the week
As you take the register, get the children to give their opinions and report on the previous person, for example:
Annie says, J’aime les pommes – I like apples
Bertie says, Annie aime les pommes et moi, j’aime les carrottes
Charlie says, Bertie aime les carottes et moi, je n’aime pas les bananes
In maths, ask the children to devise a class survey about (French) food and think about how they can present their findings in an appropriate format.
