Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could draw the position of the objects for the French to English translation sentences to demonstrate understanding; could draw and write separate sentences using prepositions to describe their images; could use the knowledge organiser to help with translating one aspect of the activity either English into French or French into English.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should be challenged to add more detail to their sentences using both prepositions and connectives (et – and, mais – but) and colour and size adjectives; should be encouraged to remember the word order (size adjectives go before and colour adjectives go after the noun), for example dans ma chambre il y a une grande chaise bleue et une lampe noire. La chaise est devant le bureau and la lampe est sur le bureau) – in my bedroom, there is a big blue chair and a black lamp. The chair is in front of the desk and the lamp is on the desk.
