Could use the Knowledge organiser (see link: French football champions) to support with vocabulary whilst completing the activity; could focus on je viens de and only go onto il/elle vient de if confident to do so.

Pupils working at greater depth:

Should be encouraged to compare and contrast the football players in the activity with themselves, speaking with a peer to construct two contrasting phrases in one sentence using the connective mais – but. E.g. Je viens de London mais il vient de Lyon.
