Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
Should use the Activity: Sort and retell (one between two) when retelling the Ancient Maya creation story during the Attention grabber; could use the Knowledge organiser for vocabulary support during their discussions and poster creation in the Main event; should use the Activity: God and goddess hieroglyphs (pre-cut) during their poster design in the Main event.
Pupils working at greater depth:
Could discuss which god or goddess might have had the most impact on the lives of some Ancient Maya people and why, considering aspects like farming, weather, creation and community games; could begin to consider the direct and indirect impact of each god and goddess explored in the lesson.
