Should use the Knowledge organiser to help identify and recall instruments and their orchestral families; could have written descriptors that help identify certain instruments or orchestral families.
Pupils working at greater depth:
Should be challenged to explain how they grouped their instrument flashcards during the Attention grabber activity; could identify similarities and differences between instruments from each orchestral family; could consider and justify which orchestral family the piano (percussion and strings) and saxophone (woodwind) might belong to.
