Support and challenge

Adults can use the opportunity to:

  • Provide an image of a hanukiah on the whiteboard (or use slide 7 of the Presentation: Hanukkah) that children can use as a prompt when making their own.
  • Pre-cut the candles using the Activity: Hanukiah candles.
  • Children could make a hanukiah using modelling dough, lolly stick candles for the candles and tissue paper glued on for the flames.
  • Challenge the children to cut their own candles using strips of white paper.
  • Ask the children if they can make any links to Diwali.
