  • Name and describe people who are familiar to them.
  • Recognise that people have different beliefs and celebrate special times in different ways.
  • Understand that some places are special to members of their community.

  • Talk about the lives of the people around them and their roles in society.

  • Know some similarities and differences between different religious and cultural communities in this country, drawing on their experiences and what has been read in class.

Activity

Support and challenge

Adults can use the opportunity to:

  • Provide children with two sorting hoops to focus on.
  • Challenge the children to draw their own idea of a special place in the community to add to the sorting activity in the Adult-led task.
  • Ask the children to suggest how people might feel in each of the places.
