Support and challenge

  • Provide pre-rolled balls of modelling dough or clay so children only need to press or shape them.
  • Provide cutters for children to cut out a shape before using their thumbs to leave a hollow space in the middle.
  • Challenge the children to discuss the meanings of beads, buttons or sequins and colours they use to decorate their candle holders.
  • Challenge the children to use clay tools to make patterns, symbols and shapes.
