- Road safety is not included in the statutory guidance. However, it is still an important area for children to learn about and features in the PSHE Association’s Programme of Study for PSHE: Health and Wellbeing > Keeping Safe > strategies for keeping safe in the local environment or unfamiliar places (rail, water, road)

Pupils needing extra support: A poster template with key words could be given to the children and then they can illustrate the point, for example, to hold hands with a grown-up or stay on the pavement.
Pupils working at greater depth: Get children to think about a different scenario, such as walking down the street in the dark. What might their safety message be then?
