Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could be given one person to focus on instead of two during the sorting activity; should be given a person slip that they know more about and can relate to, e.g. ‘children’.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should be encouraged to justify their ideas for each person they sort during the sorting activity; should confidently be able to explain the links between different members of the community; could be encouraged to guide the discussion in their group during the sorting activity with sentence starters such as ‘I agree with [X] because…’, ‘I disagree with [X] because…’.
