Pupils needing extra support
Should, when creating their own community, focus just on the groups and what they bring rather than numbers and proportions of different groups; could choose some of the group headings from the example displayed as well as their own ideas for groups, e.g. four from the table and two of their own.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should, when creating their community, design groups who bring different things to society, e.g. religious beliefs and farmers; should discuss both the potential challenges and benefits that diversity can bring in the context of the new people arriving on their island.
