Recap and recall

Hand out the whiteboards and pens. Display the Presentation: Vocabulary spinner. Click to spin the wheel. When the wheel stops and displays a word, ask the children to write a definition of that word on their whiteboard. Feed back and correct any misconceptions from the previous lesson.

Pupils needing extra support

Should focus just on the benefits of being a non-smoker. Children who have a member of their family who smokes may need additional support.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could think in more detail about how they might try and persuade someone to give up smoking. Make sure they understand that people probably are aware of the long-term health risks and there may be other things that would influence them, for example, the money they would save.
