Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could be given PE hoops with pre-written labels to sort clothing into two groups (for example, stretchy and non-stretchy, thick and thin or smooth and rough) as opposed to completing the independent task; could draw clothes and label them with simple describing words (for example, blue or stretchy) as opposed to writing sentences in the independent task.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could write a prediction on a sticky note and explain their reasoning for the adult-led task (for example, I think the plastic bag will be waterproof because I have seen water droplets fall off plastic); could give reasons for their fabric choices in task two (for example, it is bright and reflective so cars will see them or it is tight and stretchy so the gymnast can move easily).
