Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could use an alternative non-standard unit (e.g. connecting cubes) to measure length instead of using rulers; could compare only two footprints instead of recording data about all four footprints.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should give reasons explaining why certain animals have specific foot features (e.g. ducks have webbed feet to help them swim or walk on mud without sinking, elephants have large padded feet to hold their weight and prevent them sinking in soft ground, frogs have small webbed feet helping them to jump and swim, deer have hooves helping their stability when running and crows have claws helping them perch on branches or grasp food).
