Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Should use the Knowledge organiser: Science – Digestion and food to help them with the Recap and recall task; could choose from low, medium and high viscosity when solving the pharmacology design briefs instead of a specific liquid; should use the keywords (runny, thick, absorb, coat and soothe) to help them create their advert.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should be selected to group the ‘medicines’ into low, medium and high viscosity; should design an experiment that would provide quantitative (for example, time taken to absorb) rather than observational (qualitative) data for their question, How does the viscosity affect absorption by the digestive system?.
