Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could use the Activity: Testing solids, liquids and gases: support version from Lesson 1: Solids to record their observations; could use a reduced number of materials when testing the properties (water only).
Pupils working at greater depth
Could be provided with additional liquid materials (e.g. honey) when testing properties to explore liquids that do not flow easily and take time to take the shape of a container; could watch the link: The Guardian - Water in space and discuss why the water is not ‘taking the shape of the container’ or ‘flowing downwards’ as it would normally. (Gravity causes both of these properties to occur on Earth.)
