Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could read the part of one of the naturalists on the Activity: Carl Linnaeus role play when acting out how he developed the Linnaean classification system; could be provided with the Knowledge organiser for the Wrapping up race and recreate it (instead of memorising it) using the Activity: Blank Linnaean system diagram and Activity: Linnaean system animals.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should write additional lines for the Activity: Carl Linnaeus role play to explain how modern science has further developed the Linnaean system; could choose an extension activity relating to Carl Linnaeus from the Resource: Stretch and challenge: Classifying big and small.
