Recap and recall

Introducing Cubism Display the Presentation: Two Spanish artists featuring the faces of Spanish artists María Blanchard and Pablo Picasso. Invite the children to listen to the two audio clips describing the two featured artists. Emphasise listening for the general gist. The children should be familiar with all the language from previous learning.

Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Should use the Knowledge organiser throughout the lesson; should underline each colour word in the correct colour to support them when translating and drawing during the Main event; could complete one portrait rather than both during the Main event.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should draw a hair design on each portrait and write a matching descriptive sentence for each; should refer to a Spanish-English dictionary to help them expand the description with additional features (e.g. eyelashes, freckles, dimples or teeth) and include these details in their drawings.
