Learning about Guru Nanak

This Religion and worldviews animated pupil video features in lesson 6 of the Religion and Worldviews, Year 2, What is a prophet? unit.

It tells the story of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru, and how his experiences helped shape the Sikh worldview.

Children will learn about Guru Nanak’s early life, his special experience of God, and the important messages he shared about kindness, equality and living a good life. The video introduces Sikh beliefs such as ‘Ik Oankar’ (One God), meditation and the importance of helping others.

This video encourages children to reflect on what makes someone a special teacher or guide and helps them understand why Guru Nanak is so important to many Sikhs today.
